A great snack to use with toddlers is to let them make their own pizza. We use the mini pita bread. WE have the children spread on the tomato sauce and the put on the grated cheese. We bake them until the cheese is melted and guaranteed they always ask to make another.
This idea was from our cook, Ida McCall. She gave the kids some bread dough that was self-rising. The kids enjoyed manipulating it, squeezing the bubbles out, making item out of the dough, cutting it with cookie cutters, etc. To carry this idea one step further, I thought that it could be possible for the kids (with clean hands, of course and on a clean surface, the kids make their dough items and then the items be baked and used at meal time or for snacks.
A fun and easy snack idea for toddlers is monkey bread.
You will need:
fresh pizza dough, butter or margarine, sugar, cinnamon.
The day before you plan to have this snack place bananas cut in half and with Popsicle sticks through the middle in the freezer. Place graham crackers in Ziploc bags and give the children toy hammers to smash the crackers up with. At snack give each child a banana and some graham crumbs on a plate. My kids loved this snack and talked about it for days afterwards.
