We have two large thermometers in the classroom. I let the children see it and we pass it around. Then we place one in an empty container and using magic marker, mark where the red line extends to. (indoor temperature) then we place the other thermometer in some snow in a container and watch the red line drop downward and mark that with a marker. We compare the two thermometer lines.

Today we celebrated snow. We read E. J. Keats-The Snowy Day, we went outside and did all the things that "Peter" did in the story. We brought in a snowball and put it in a clear container to watch it melt during our day. THEN we played in shaving cream, sort of pretend snow. That was the real topper of our day, and the children really enjoyed it.
