Valentines Day: We use a sensory tub for our toddlers all of the time. during Valentines week we let the children make red Jell-O and then put it in the sensory tubs. The toddlers love to squish their fingers through it! This idea can be adapted for other holiday themes.

1-5 year olds loved making their own "heart" books. And better than that even the youngest one loves reading it over and over. I pre cut colored hearts. One large and one small of each color for each child. Then I printed and cut a copy of the words for each child's book. They glued them in, one large heart, and the right words, on each page. (All of the small hearts go together one the final page.) The words for each page are the same except for the color of the heart. i.e.. "Green heart Green heart what do you see?" (turn the page and read) "I see yellow heart looking at me. Yellow heart yellow heart what do you see" etc. The last page reads "...all the hearts..." Staple pages together at the end.

Fold a piece of construction paper in half. Draw a small half heart in the middle (like you would to make a valentine cut-out heart) then draw a person shape, so that one arm is touching the heart. Cut and open. Will look like paper dolls holding a heart between the two. So cute for toddlers to color, paint, or paste collage materials to. I did this for "friendship" week and hung them up around the room.

A Teddy Bear Tea is the perfect way to have Valentine's Day celebrated by your little guy or girl. Each child brings in there special "lovie" and they present it with a Valentine. "Tea" and snacks are part of the day. Take a picture and mount in on construction paper with the child's reasoning as to why they love their teddy (or other stuffed animal) so much. Remember to include the name of their teddy and the date. A perfect day, keepsake, and valentine for the tot.
