3-5-01Take toilet paper tubes and cut eight slits on one end about l inch long. This will make eight legs. Bend them a little so they will flatten out. Dip the tube into black paint and press on white paper. Remind toddlers to use the up and down motion to make spider prints.
2-22-01Let toddlers paint two Styrofoam balls black. The teacher can hot glue them together, when dry have the kids stick 8 pipe cleaners into the spider. Add googly eyes and hang from the ceiling.
2-22-01Paint the toddlers hands black and press them heel to heel with the fingers spread out. This makes a very cute spider.
2-9-01Cut black circles to fit snugly into an aluminum cake pan. Put a drop of white paint in the center. Drop in 3/4 marbles and let the children slowly move their pans up, down, all around. A spider web appears like magic. I would suggest letting them roll the marbles around the pan for a little bit of practice before putting in the paint. It's lots of fun.........with or without the paint, too!
