3-5-01Paint Circles using wine corks. Dip them into different colors and press on paper. Remind children to use up and down motion and they will have different circles all over their paper!
2-9-01Cut a triangular shape from construction paper (any shape would work and any color paper is acceptable). Cut the center out to form a frame. Cut clear contact paper to fit the center opening. Let the children snip pieces of tissue paper (or pre-cut the tissue if you prefer). Let the children fill in the sticky center of the shape with tissue paper snips. Hole punch. Add yarn through the hole. You have an instant shape sun catcher. They love it! It's easy! Looks pretty hanging in a sunny window!
2-9-01When I do shapes with my toddlers, I cut out shapes from various materials and in various sizes. The children then place the shapes in a collage format on the sticky side of a 9x12 piece of Contact paper. We then cover it with another piece of Contact to make a placemat that they can bring home and use at mealtime.
Date: 1-24-01Use simple shaped cookie cutters and finger-paint to let toddlers create a shape picture. Simply dip in the paint and press on paper.
Date: 1-24-01Cut out a piece of contact paper either in white or clear. It can be group-size or individual-size. Then cut out shapes of colored paper. You can use scraps or whatever is handy. Peel off the back of the contact paper and put rolls of tape in the corners so it will stick to a wall or the top of the table. Then let the kids make a pretty picture. It really takes very little prep time and they can play with it for quite a while.
