Tea sensory exploration - During circle time, open a teabag and pour into a bowl. Let children smell, and touch the tea. Ask how does it look, feel, and smell and suggest ideas to help them find words to describe what they sense. Then pass around fragrant herbal teabags such as peppermint, apple, lemon, and orange. Let the children smell them and suggest ideas. Does the peppermint tea remind you of the mints or gum that Mommy and Daddy chew? Toddlers need help sometimes learning how to sniff, so make sure they aren't sniffing out instead of in. Show them with an over-exaggerated motion and sound how to sniff. They'll catch right on!
