3-21-01Make cut outs of different body parts for the song "Head Shoulders Knees and Toes." Sing the song in order first the mix up the cut outs and sing in that order. Don't be afraid to add in other body parts like chin and elbows.
3-5-01In working with toddlers, I have found that the children need something to do while waiting for food to be served. This finger play works perfectly with the My Body theme. "Eye peeper (point to eye), Nose Smeller (point to
nose), I have done this with toddlers and they loved it!
2-22-01Here is the classic finger play Open them Shut them with variations:
Open them Shut them open them shut them give a little clap. Variation 1: Roll them roll them roll them roll them
roll them just like this. Variation 2: Crawl them, crawl them, crawl them crawl them, right up to your cheeks. Variation 3: Crawl them, Crawl them, Crawl them, crawl them way down to your toes.
2-22-01Either with clip art or pictures from magazine or your own art work cut, out parts of the body for the song " Head shoulders knees and toes." Laminate the piece and put magnets on the back. Place the pieces on the blackboard in order and sing the song, then mix it up and sing the song out of order. This is a hit with young children and older kids too. Variation: When singing the song instead of pointing to body parts make a movement i.e: nod head, shrug shoulders, bend knees, up on toes etc.
