3-5-01For a great sensory and Art project use bubble packing wrap. Give each child a sheet of bubble wrap. Pour a small amount of finger-paint on the wrap. Let your toddlers squish and pop to their heart's content. After they are done rub a piece of white paper across the wrap.
2-22-01Begin to trace your toddler's hand in a a piece of paper or hard surface. Encourage the child to either color/paint/glue bottoms etc inside the hands. Teach to count to 10 for every finger (write #'s in each one) then, cut around the hands and tie them together with a long ribbon...ask your child to write her name and age on the back...or maybe a dedication to someone special (like dad or nana...) this is a great manual and educational exercise!
2-22-01Have an adult trace outline of the child on brown craft paper or reverse side of wrapping paper. Have the children glue on pre-cut ears, eyes, nose, hands and mouth. For a variety of textures we used sandpaper hands, a pompom nose, red felt mouth, pink craft foam ears and cardboard shaped eyes which had bird seed glued on them. The children then color on the clothing with crayons or markers.
