2-22-01Gather pictures or toys of various farm animals. Show the animals to the toddlers one by one. Have them tell you what the animal is and then pretend to be that animal. Your toddlers will enjoy turning their classroom into a farm!
2-22-01I made a recording of different sounds around my house and farm. I took it in and let the children listen to it and try to guess what made that sound. After about a week they were recognizing the sounds.
2-12-01Pin the Tail on the Piggy Draw and color/paint a large pig on bulletin board paper and hand on the wall wither inside or outside. Use pink pipe cleaners to curl to look like pig tails. Let the children take turns pinning the tail on the piggy either blind folded or not. My toddlers were full of laughs as they were playing.
2-12-01For my toddlers and infants a great song for "Farm Theme" is Old MacDonald had a farm. The little tiny guys try to copy the sounds the the toddlers are making. And the sounds are farm animals, machinery sounds and the family members around the farm. This is also a great song for when the weather is keeping the kids inside and they (and myself) have to burn off some pent up stress.
2-9-01Stickers Stickers! What do to: When i was working with the toddler group and we did farm theme I bought some stickers of animals found on a farm, I made a farm scene on the paper talked about what animals are on the farm and where the animals belong. Then, I let the children tell me where the animals belong using the stickers and farm scene. It was fun to see where they put them.
