2-22-01For Dental Health Week, we are making "tooth" necklaces. Even the smallest of my group can roll the dough into small balls, then make a large "dent" on one side and a smaller "dent" on the other. Make a hole at the top with a straw or other tool, place on a baking sheet in an oven at 250 degrees for one hour. These can be air dried too. I use a simple dough with flour, salt, oil and water and alum. At the end of the lessen, after the teeth have cooled, we string them on a necklace with cheerios, counting up to "10". Good fine muscle and cognitive experience.
2-12-01A fun sticker activity: make a chart of each day and a place for morning and evening. Let child place sticker in correct place every time you help her brush her teeth. This will encourage her to learn the days of the week as well as to remind you to brush her teeth. She will also love the sticking part - it does not even matter what the stickers are.
