2-22-01Cut out candy cane shapes out of white construction paper. Put into a box with marbles and green/red paint. Shake the box and it makes a lovely print.
2-22-01My group consists of 1-2 yrs. Our favorite kind of art is contact paper collages. We do lots of contact paper art. We put scraps of torn white paper and glitter on and made snowflakes. We put Christmas stickers on and covered them with green cellophane to make Christmas trees. The uses are only limited by your imagination!
2-12-01Shaving cream mixed with glue is an excellent substance to use in your classroom in the winter or at Christmas time. Your toddlers can paint this mixture onto pine cones for Christmas ornaments OR paint it on a snowman cutout you have previously made. When it dries, it looks like snow.
2-12-01This is a good project to do with one's and two year olds! I like to do it around Christmas! All you will need is a piece of construction paper, some white paint, and some silver glitter! Dip the child's foot in the paint and make their footprint on the paper with the toes pointing down. Now dip child's hands in the paint, their fingers will make great wings at the heel part of the foot. While paint is till wet sprinkle with glitter! The parents love this because it it something that can keep and look back at how much their child has grown! Good Luck!
2-9-01Christmas Tree Lights I cut Christmas trees out of green construction paper and let the toddlers help me hole punch different areas of the tree. When that is done they glue different colored tissue paper to the back of the tree. When hung in the window the sun shines through and makes the tree "light up".
2-9-01Since my one year olds love to tear paper and glue so much, we made Christmas tree ornaments by letting the kids tear away at construction paper for as long as they wanted. We talked about the colors and shapes while tearing. (some of the paper for tearing was distributed in precut shapes) Then I mixed appropriate colors in brown paper bags. the kids got to "dot, dot, dot" glue onto precut poster board. then they sprinkled and patted the torn paper, creating cute textured stars, trees, and other ornamental shapes that had a stained glass appearance. Add a hole punch and tie ribbon for hanging.
Date: 2-9-01Use green finger-paint and poster board, have children make a handprint wreath. Finish with red bow on bottom of wreath. This makes a nice parent gift or decoration for classroom.
