2-9-01A great idea to help toddlers develop fine and gross motor control is by letting them use all of their arms! Fill a bucket with water, give them a 1 1/2-2" paintbrush and show them how to "paint" the walls outside. The kids love it and it's a great activity.
2-9-01Set up an obstacle course for little ones to walk, run, ride bikes through etc. Use large boxes with the ends open to go through, cones to go around, 2 jump ropes laying parallel to one another to jump across (like a river), hula hoops, tires. The possibilities are endless with this one.
2-9-01As an alternative to a pool on a hot summer day fill a small children's wading pool with cooked spaghetti and a small amount of vegetable oil. The children will enjoy the slippery feeling but make sure they are careful not to hurt themselves falling down. Have a sprinkler set up nearby to rinse off afterwards. *Warning: this will kill your grass so put a large plastic tablecloth under the pool.
Date: 1-24-01While taking a walk one day try this fun idea, Take masking tape and make a bracelet around the child's hand sticky side up. Then encourage children to gather items to stick on their bracelets such as leaves flowers etc.
