Class Description

Storytelling and dramatic play can be a very powerful vehicle to introduce children to language and literacy at a very early stage.  Storytelling and dramatic play utilizes and expand acquired vocabulary by conceptualizing in high-interest stories which the children can hear, see, act out, and retell

This class will help you move beyond "just reading" stories to your class.  You will learn how to tell stories that will captivate and involve the children.  You will also learn how to integrate dramatic play into your storytelling experience.

Each student will have access to an online classroom where we will meet once a week.  In addition, a workshop web site is provided where they will have access to:

Downloadable files

Class polls

Communication with each other through the class message board

Pictorial examples of many of the art activities

At the end of the workshop, students will have gained a HUGE resource of activities, ideas, and web sites to help put into action what they have learned.
