Zebra Sandwiches Using a sliced white loaf of bread, butter and spread vegemite (for Aussie kids!) or hazelnut spread on four slices. Layer the slices spread side up, adding a plain piece of bread on the top. Use cookie cutters or simply cut into four. The children love to count the number of 'stripes' they can see before eating!

idea

Using Q-tips or new water color brushes, paint animal crackers with edible paint made from corn syrup and food coloring. The children never have anything to show for all their hard work, but their tummies are happy!

Theme: " zoo" (choco-bananas as a monkey snack)

Buy some dipping chocolate, cut several bananas in half or thirds and place a Popsicle stick in them. Freeze them for a couple of hours, prepare the chocolate and have the children dip their own bananas into the chocolate to make their monkey snacks.

Lion Sandwiches

Spread mustard and mayonnaise on the flat side of a hamburger bun. Place a piece of bologna and a piece of American Cheese on the bun. Sprinkle grated Cheddar and Swiss cheese around the circumference of the bun to represent the lion's mane. Toast in a toaster oven until cheese is melted. Garnish with green pepper for the mouth, olives for eyes, and a small piece of carrot for the nose. (This idea was taken from the July/ August 1999 edition of Quick Cooking Magazine. Thinking Up A Theme section.)
