What's in the bag? It's interesting to hear the children's ideas. We talk briefly about air, and then I introduce the concept that wind is air that is moving. What are ways you can make the air around you move? The children offer their ideas and we go from there. At least one of them usually comes up with blowing air with their mouths. I offer straws and hand-held fans as ways to propel cotton balls across the table. I introduce a blow-dryer (used *only* with direct supervision and on the cool setting) as another source of "wind". Which method makes the cotton balls move the fastest?
