Lots to eat

Oh how sweet

Idea:

Five fat turkeys are we

We slept all night in a tree

When the hunter comes 'round

We won't be found

That's why we're up here, you see!

I'm a very fine turkey

And I sing a fine song

Gobble, gobble, gobble, gobble

All day long

I strut through the forest

I roost in the trees

And my favorite thing to eat is

Seeds, seeds, seeds!

I'm a turkey, very fat

I'm a turkey, skinny like that

I'm a turkey, very small

I'm a turkey, very tall

I'm the best turkey of them all!

(Use hands and body to act out fat, skinny, tall, etc)

The turkey is a funny bird

His head goes wobble, wobble

And all he says is just one word

Gobble, gobble, gobble!

Ten fat turkeys standing in a row.

They spread their wings and tails just so.

They look to the left-

They look to the right-

When they strut their stuff, they're quite a sight!

But you won't see them on Thanksgiving Day 'Cause one by one, they'll run away!

Ten, nine, eight, (etc.)

Mr. Duck went out for a walk

One day in pleasant weather

He met Mr. Turkey along the way

And there they talked together

"Gobble, gobble, gobble"

"Quack, quack, quack"

"Good-bye, Good-bye"

Then they both walked back

Here is a finger play I have been using with my PreK classes for years.

See My Feathers Colored Bright

(sung to the tune of "London Bridge")

(hold one hand open and wave back and forth) See my feathers colored bright, colored bright, colored bright.

See my feathers colored bright, what a pretty sight.

(make a fist from your other hand and place it, thumb side out, on the palm of your open hand) See my tummy big and fat, big and fat, big and fat.

See my tummy big and fat, now what do you think of that?

(stick thumb, from hand that is a fist, out and wiggle around) See my head look all around, all around, all around.

See my head look all around for corn upon the ground.

(twist fist and palm bak and forth to make "turkey" sway) See me as I strut and sway, strut and sway, strut and sway.

See me as I strut and sway for this is what I say...

Gobble, gobble, gobble!

I hope your children enjoy it as much as mine have. Happy gobbling!
