For my 5 year- old's birthday, we're having a train party in the back room of our local train store. I've made a template for Thomas and Percy masks out of cardstock, and a face for the "Troublesome Trucks" rail cars from the stories. So we'd like to make up some train cars that roll with these "truck" faces pasted on them and a rope to pull them by; we're going to draw a track on the floor and let them all pretend to be a train together. They'll make stops at stations and watering tower, the "goods" yard, etc. to pick up their lunch, juice boxes and party favors. As party favors, they take home the mask, their rail car, a "Really Useful Engine" medal, some train note cards and stickers, and maybe a cassette soundtrack of trains.
