Idea:

I found mini ice cream cones at my local grocery store and filled them with yogurt. The kids love them this way or I poke holes in an egg carton and stand them up so they can go in the freezer. A big hit and even the youngest ones can hold it themselves.

my kids love to make them as much as they love to eat them, tastes like the real thing.

You take a cupcake and frost it w/ bright blue frosting and you put a peach ring in the middle and stick a teddy graham in the middle of the peach ring to make it look like it is in an inner tube in the water. You can also add a gumball to make it look like a beach ball.

*I actually got this idea from another teacher, so the credit should go to Micki* --- Spread a layer of frozen yogurt over graham crackers (similar to an ice-cream sandwich) and put in to the freezer until snack time. It is a delicious and nutritious warm weather snack.

Trail Mix

This is a great take-along snack that will help the cook clean out those "little bits" in the kitchen.

In a large bowl, add any type of cereals (Cheerios, Kix, Rice Krispies, etc.) Mix in pretzel sticks, fish crackers, small snack crackers, raisins, oyster crackers, etc. Almost anything that is left-over in the kitchen. Mix well, and place in individual sandwich bags or cups for each child. This will meet the CACFP component for grains for snack. This is also a great field trip snack!

My toddlers and preschoolers loved this snack. When making Jell-O for them, instead of putting in the cold water, use vanilla or plain yogurt instead. Then put into individual cups. Place into the refrigerator or freezer long enough for them to set and let the children enjoy. Not only is it a wonderful snack but good for them as well!

Put a large gummy saver around the middle of a teddy graham as a "life preserver". Float him in a little cup of blue Jell-O for a "pool".

Sun Baked S'mores

Have children place one graham cracker sheet in a foil pie plate, sprinkle with chocolate chips, and miniature marshmallows. Cover the pie plate with tin foil, and label for each child. Place outside in a sunny hot place, check after 10 minutes. They are done when the sun has melted the chocolate and marshmallow. They are yummy!

Watermelon star snack: Have thin slices of watermelon cut. The child uses a star cookie cutter. They can eat the star and the other pieces from around it.
