A fun idea I do once a year for making robots is with toilet paper rolls and tin foil. Wrap tin foil around roll or and cylinder. Hole punch arm holes and slide through a piece of pipe cleaner. Add wiggly eyes and any other scraps you may have. The children get really creative adding buttons and giving it a fun function! The parents love to watch and listen to the children's ideas.

Here is another way that the children in your class can create robots.  Have the parents in your class save:

Gladware containers
Cans such as dry formula cans, peanut cans, or any can with a lid.
Juice cans

Have the children glue the different materials together to create their own robot!

Cut lots and lots of different sizes of rectangles.  Have the children glue them any way they like to make their own robot.

Collect lots of different sizes of boxes.  Let the children glue the boxes together to make their own robot.

Get lots of rectangular blocks of Styrofoam.  Cut the Styrofoam into different sizes.  Let the children glue the blocks together to create their own robot.
