3-12-01Here's a song to do with a pizza theme. It's sung to the tune of "Oscar Myer Weiner" If you're not familiar with this classic commercial tune just make one up. Each child decides what kind of topping he/she wants on the pizza. I wish I were a PEPPERONI pizza, (Replace PEPPERONI with cheese, olive, mushroom even chocolate or strawberry). Add pictures of the toppings for interest or sequencing.
3-12-01I work with pre-schoolers and one of their favorite activities/songs is Pizza, Pizza. This is a large group activity. Everyone stands in a circle and the teacher begins singing the song calling out each child's name until everyone in the circle has moved on to the next area (small group, lunch, etc..). The song goes like this - Pizza, Pizza, his/her
name is ________. The kids love this song!! They love doing the motions! We use it a lot to call kids to wash their hands before lunch.
11-7-00I have a fun pizza song and flannel board activity. There is a flannel board song about a Donut Shop, I changed it to Pizza Shop. I made slices of pizza with pepperoni on top. Use different numbers of pepperoni and you also have a counting activity, "Down around the corner in the pizza shop" Repeat until all slices of pizza are gone.

Date: 2-2-00I used the song "I am a pizza" from Charlotte Diamond as a guide to cut out green peppers, tomatoes, pepperoni, onions, oregano, mushrooms, etc from felt in a variety of colors. I also cut out the dough of the pizza from light tan colored felt and placed it inside a pizza pan. I asked a local pizza place for a pizza box. After everything was assembled, I gave each of the children one or two pieces of a single topping that they could put on the pizza. The children and I sat around in a circle and as we sang the song, the child with the item being mentioned put their topping on the pizza. The children seemed to really enjoy building the pizza. When all the toppings were on, I continued to act out the rest of the song as the children and I sang the remainder of the song.
