Idea:

Using some clear, empty water bottles fill them up with half baby water and drop the desired color of food coloring, add alphabet beads, and then baby oil. You can explain the concept of density to the little ones since the water floats on oil. You can make them search for the entire alphabet in the bottle in order. You can also make thematic bottles where you place beads with the letter "b" for example and then add in other small items (beads, plastic toys, etc) like a toy "balloon," "basketball," "baby," and any other small items you can find that begins with the letter "b." The kids really love this one.

Letter E.

See through egg.

Materials

Egg & Vinegar & Jar

Place egg in jar. Cover egg with vinegar. Let stand over night. Have children make predictions as to what they will see, how it will feel, will they be able to eat it. On tomorrow, compare whose predictions were right. *No you cannot eat this egg. You will simply be able to see the yolk. Keep in a dark cool place over night. Not the refrigerator. Do the experiment first thing in the morning when introducing your theme to allow enough time for processing. Also good for spring unit.
