Make a graph of your class's favorite ice cream flavors! Choose several popular ice cream flavors (such as vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry) for children to choose from. Write the flavor names down the side of a large piece of poster paper. Make small ice cream cones out of construction paper to represent each flavor. Have students write their name on a small card and place it next to their favorite ice cream flavor on the chart. For each student name, place an ice cream cone above it. When all students have voted, count how many students have chosen each flavor. The result will be a colorful picture graph. This really helps students to visualize how many students in the class like each flavor. Ask them simple questions about the graph such as: "Which flavor is liked the most?" "The least?" "Which flavor is most popular with the boys?" "With the girls?"
