Idea:

After reading a story about how germs are spread on hands, the teacher puts some glitter on her hands and says, "Let's pretend these are germs all over my hands!" Then the teacher shakes hands with one child, who shakes hands with another child, and so on, so that the children see the "germs" spread throughout the classroom. Then everyone washes the "germs" off. This activity helped my three-year-olds to understand why hand-washing is so important.

Idea:

cover a ball with glitter, marker, or anything that may come off on your hands. Have the children sit in a circle and pass the ball around to every child. The child should have the glitter or the substance you choose on their hands. Discuss with the children that the substance on their hands represent germs that can be passed around from one object.
