Idea:

Preschool art project - cut out a cookie cutter-type frog out of a 9 x 12 sheet of green construction paper, one for each child. Before class, use a craft knife and cut an "X" where the frogs mouth should be. Let the children decorate their frog with eyes, spots, etc. We talk about how a frog has a long sticky tongue to catch bugs. Give each child a party blower (their name should be on it) to insert into the "X". The children love blowing on the party blowers and pretend to catch bugs.

I cut out shapes of lily pads and the kids painted them green. Then they added a white coffee filter (so it stands out like 3D) and glued yellow tissue paper in the center of the coffee filter. Placed next to the frogs we made on the bulletin board...nice addition.

Idea:

A great idea for a wall display! Get the children to make speckled frogs by cutting out 2 large cardboard ovals, paint with sponges, using 2 different shades of green, then staple and stuff with newspaper. draw eyes on and make legs with green paper. To make a log for them to sit on paint some corrugated card brown and mount on wall. Add different shades of green tissue paper for weeds! It looks brilliant and the children have fun making the display!

Idea:

After reading the story "Froggy Gets Dressed", we made frog hand puppets! Use brown (or white) lunch bags for the body, and have paper cutouts of a frog head, frog mouth, arms and legs and a tongue that the children first color, and then glue to the paper bags. The head goes on top of the bag, and the mouth part and tongue underneath as to make a moveable, talkable frog!

Using any frog pattern, Have the children "speckle" the frogs. I have used bristle blocks and paint, or use a large Lego and let them "stamp" until their frog is speckled. After the frogs are speckled I use them to make a bulletin board, "5 green and speckled Frogs" You could also mount them on Popsicle sticks and use them along with the finger play.

Precut enough frogs for each child out of yellow construction paper. Give each child bingo paint bottle with blue paint (watered down the paint: half and half) The paint turns the yellow frog green.

Go on a nature hike with the children and find some lily pads. Take them back to the center and do paint printing with the lily pads.

Find a picture of a frog - I used a coloring book - and enlarge it to and 8 1/2 x 11 piece of tag-board. Have the child cut them out (or precut). Mix light corn syrup with 2 or three drops of food coloring, and have child paint a thin layer onto frog. When it dries, it will have a beautiful clear green color.

Pond Sweet Pond " To make one, paint a rock green. When the paint is dry glue on wiggle eyes. Next glue pieces of grass and twigs onto a white, sterilized Styrofoam tray when the glue is dry cover the tray with blue plastic wrap securing the wrap to the back of the tray with tape. Finally glue the rock frog onto a construction paper lily pad. Place the frog on top of the pond.
