7-18-00Play the game In and Out of the Barn (sung to The Farmer in the Dell) Have a child hold hands with you and raise your arms to form a barn. Have the children walk under your arms while your singing about the animals going out of the barn. When you start to sing about a particular animal staying in the barn put your arms down to capture the child and softly push the child back and forth while singing. (Like London Bridges) The ducks go out of the barn A duck stays in the barn Replace duck with other barn yard animals and continue to sing.
7-9-00Sung to the tune of Row Row Row Your Boat. Milk, Milk, Milk your cow while sitting on the stool.
5-25-00The Animals on the Farm (Sung to the tune of Famer in the Dell) The Animals on the farm The Animals on the farm, Heigh Ho the Dairy Oh The Animals on the farm. 10-17-00"Barnyard Dance" Act out this poem while someone reads it to you. The barnyard dance is about to begin, So hitch up your pants and jump right in! Pick the apples! Husk the corn! Crow with the rooster in the early morn! Bow to your partner! Wave hello! Clap your hands and tap your toe! Feed the chickens! Milk the cow! Hoe the weeds and push the plow! The barnyard dance has come to an end, So kick up your heels and start again! ideaDid You Ever See A Farm? (tune: Did you ever see a Lassie?) Did you ever see a farm? A farm, a farm? Did you ever see a farm? Many animals live there. There's a horse who says, "Neigh!" A cow who says, "Moo!" A pig who says, "Oink, oink!" And a rooster--"Cock-a-doodle-doo!" My preschoolers loved making the animal sounds. This song was a hit on Parents Night. Date Submitted: 9-19-99ideaThis is a song sung to me by my mom that I call "Kerry's Grandma's Song" I am not sure where my mother heard the song, and I have not heard it before. I am not sure of another song with this tune you may have to use your imagination. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. Kerry's Grandma's Song "Quack, Quack", says the duck "Quack, Quack", "Quack, Quack", says the little duck too. I wouldn't be a girl with my hair in a curl, I wouldn't be a girl would you. "Quack, Quack", says the duck "Quack, Quack", "Quack, Quack", says the little duck too. I wouldn't be a boy with a top for a toy, I wouldn't be a boy would you. But, I guess since the world is just as it is, I think it is best don't you, For a boy to be a boy, and a girl to be a girl, and a duck to be a duck, duck, too. Date: 9-9-99
Date: 7-24-99As part of my theme on farm animals and their babies, I modified a song I learned with my own child while watching Barney. It is called "Down on Grandpa's farm." We sing it like this: We're on our way, we're on our way, on the way to Grandpa's farm. We're on our way, we're on our way, on the way to Grandpa's farm. Down on Grandpa's farm there is a black and white cow. Down on Grandpa's farm there is a black and white cow. The cow,she has a baby called: a calf. The cow,she has a baby called: a calf.
