I dye dinosaur shaped noodles and then let the kids glue them onto large
black posterboard shaped as a brontosaurus. The black really brings out all the
bright colors of the noodles!

We make dinosaur fossils by using coffee playdough. First we make the
playdough, the we press small dinosaurs to make an impression. The playdough has
a unique texture and feels different when dried.

For a great fossil use small dinosaur figures and Crayola Magic. Give
the children a small round ball, have them flatten it and press the
dinosaur into the mold. When dries, its a great "plaster fossil".

When learning about dinosaurs, my 3&4's love to make a
shoeasaurus.
The teacher traces around the child's shoe onto a piece of construction
paper then the child can glue on spikes, a tail, legs and feet
etc...using scraps of paper and/or other art materials. (glitter glue is
a favorite with my kids).

I put out a large piece of butcher paper. I paint the children's feet
with green, brown, and yellow paint, and then I have them stomp like dinosaurs all over the paper. When it is dry, I cut the paper into large
dinosaur footprints and hang it up.

to make a dino fossil that the children can carefully chip out, I use real,
bleached chicken bones in a plaster cast. Just mix the plaster according to
package directions, looks more authentic if you add a bit of sand, place the
chicken bones in mold, allowing a tiny bit showing, (incentive) put out with
goggles, small chisels, small hammer and soft cloth to wrap fossil in. Fun
activity for all those future paleontologist.

We made a traveling book. Each of the children drew themselves as
dinosaurs and dictated to us what they were doing in the picture. We
labeled each page with their new dinosaur name (example Joshasauraus) The
children loved sharing the book with their families.

I had the kids dig for a little plastic dinosaur in our sand box. Then
they pressed it into some air drying clay to make a fossil! When it was
dry they got to paint it.

For Dinosaurs we have fun "creating our own dinosaurs" I give
each child a cutout of a dinosaur and I have a bunch of different collage
material: cotton, glitter, tissue paper, sand etc. Then they pick one of
these items and glue them on their: cotton-saurus, tissue-saurus, sand-a-saurus
(well you get the picture) the kids love it and it is a great bulletin board
display as well!

To make a dinosaur fossil make up plenty of brown playdough. Kids
press the playdough about one inch thick onto paper plates. Press
chowmein noodles into the playdough in the shape of a fossil. Its a
good Idea to use a picture to make up one fossil for the kids to
follow as an example. Then press dry sand in and around noodle
fossils and allow playdough to harden. You could also put some glue
on noodles for a more permanent fossil.

A) to make a dinosaur egg nest take a paper bowl, and press a thin
layer of brown playdough all over the edges. Place moss, and leaves in
the bowl. Paint sterofoam eggs, or blown eggs in nest. The kids should
paint the eggs. We places one broken egg shell in each nest so it would
look like one dinosaur crawled away already. Some of the children
pretended that an oviraptor ate the egg. The nest will dry out in a day
or so, but will be ready for children to take home right away. This
craft is great for kids ages 4-7.

I cut 2 dinosaur patterns for each child, then punch holes all the way
around leaving a small part open at the top. The children then 'stuff' the
dinosaurs to fatten them up. The next step is to have the children lace the
dinosaurs to close. For the final step add a yarn hanger on top to make a
dinosaur dance.

To make dinosaurs reappear, we(before hand the teacher would) take white Rose
Art crayons and trace around dino shapes and making thick lines using a lot of
pressure (I have stencils made from cardboard) onto white paper and have the
children watercolor their paper and suddenly the dinosaurs have appeared before their
eyes! The Crayola crayons are not as good to use for this.

Trace around a child as they lay on a large piece of butcher paper. Add horns or spikes
or tail or anything else child wants. Let child color and cut out "dinosaur".
They can be named --such as teacherasaurus or child's name asaurus. Make your classroom
full of dinosaurs.

Give each child pre-cut dinosaur shaped construction paper and let them design their
own dinos. Affix each dinosaur to it's own lager background paper shaped as an egg.
Let the children tell you facts about their dinosaur, like what it eats, if it was
friendly. write the facts on the background sheet and label each dinosaur according to the
child's' name. e.g. Kim's' dino would be a Kim-o-saraus John's would be a
John-o-saraus,etc.The kids are very proud of their creations and it makes for a great
bulletin board.

This is a fun project to do while studying dinosaurs. We made paper mache
dino eggs. I stuffed a balloon for each child with a small baby dinosaur figure. Then a
blew the balloon up and tied a knot in it. The children put the paper mache on the
balloon. We let these dry and then painted green with black and brown speckles on them.
After this I popped the balloons. After taking these home the children were told that it
was time for the egg to hatch. After they cracked the egg open they were very surprized to
find a baby dino.

"goopy" consistency and paint on to paper. Use uncooked pasta as the bones and
have the children arrange them in the paint. Instant tar pit!

Cerealsaurus.
Cut out a dinosaur out of construction paper, (try to use more durable
paper). Have the children bring in a small bag of their favorite cereal. Then let them
glue on all the different types of cereal all over their dinosaur, to make a cerealsauras.
It's cute to watch which cereal they pick and if they have some sort of pattern or just
place it all over. Either way it's really cute and makes for an interesting bulletin
board.

Make dinosaur eggs! Make your favorite play clay but rather then adding
color, substitute wheat flour. Let the chilren form their eggs with the wheat flour and
dry them overnight. Let them paint their eggs when they are dry.
OR.....buy a bunch of small and CHEAP dinosaur figures and do the above
activity only let the children form the eggs around the dinosaur and when the eggs are dry
and decorated let the children break open their eggs to reveal the dinosaur.

Another fun activity is to make dinosaur tooth necklaces. It is made out
of modeling goop. (a salt based dough). I show the children how to make a tooth shape out
of the dough. At the thick end of the tooth we make a hole by pushing a pencil through it.
Let it set and dry for a few days. (Next time we do this activity I am going to try my
dehydrator) Give each child a length of yarn, ribbon or elastic. Lace it through the
teeth, and tie in the back. Presto, you have a dinosaur tooth necklace. The children enjoy
the whole process and are very proud of their creations.

Cut out a dinosaur from cardboard. Use cardboard (paper) egg cartons for
the top/back of dino. Let the children glue them on (about 5). Use one
cardboard "egg holder" for each foot. Let the children paint w/ tempra paint.
Use wiggle eyes. This is very cute. For younger children I do the first steps, then they
paint them.
