10-30-00We always have a lot of fun making cookies in my class. A fun way to let the children decorate the cookies is to give them egg whites mixed with food coloring to paint their cookies before you bake them. You could use fall colors to paint leave cookies, red for hearts and etc. We always find the roll out sugar cookie dough works the best. You can even have the kids roll out the cookies and cut them with cookie cutters beforehand.
9-17-00Peanut Butter and Jelly Cookies Prepare cookies as directed on package. Cool and spread grape jelly on flat side of one cookie and top with another cookie. You can dust with powdered sugar or leave as is. My son's pre-school teacher LOVED these and asked for them again later in the year!
9-14-00Bake cookies with the children when teaching about words beginning with Cc. Use a roll of pre-made cookie dough (like Pillsbury). Give each child a large spoonful of dough to shape into a letter C on a piece of wax paper labeled with his/her name. Bake. Then, allow the children to decorate their cookies with frosting, sprinkles, raisins, coconut, and/or m&m's. If they make two each, they can take one home in a small Ziploc baggie to eat for dessert that evening. Note-You can always bake the cookies at home the night before if you do not have access to an oven. 9-12-00 Bake cookies with your kiddos!!! So many different
concepts can be learned through the tactile experience. Check out:
