Contact_FullName: Janet Contact_Email: jmjjmill date:: 5-5-02 Area: spiders--story web Idea: Have a group of children sit on the floor in a circle. Use a ball of yarn to spin a story web. The teacher starts the story, hold on to the end of the yarn and throw the ball to another child to continue the story. When everyone has had a turn you've spun a web. This works well with fours and fives.
8-1-00KID COCOONS Children can wrap each other in toilet paper (excluding their head) so they can feel what it would be like to be a caterpillar in a cocoon. Have them close their eyes and imagine that they are about to become butterflies. Have them stretch their "wings" and tear through the toilet paper cocoons.
Pattern-pillers. Practice and learn patterns by using pattern-pillers. Use paper, glue, different colored pompoms, and if you like google eyes. Have the children create patterns using the different colors pompoms in making their pattern-piller.
