Oh look! It's some tall grass! Can't go over it Can't go under it Can't go around it Got to go through it (make sounds of swoohing) Then you repeat the whole thing over seeing a tall tree that you climb, then a wide river you swim across, each time changing the Can't go .... to what every fits that item. Final verse Goin on a bear hunt I'm not afraid Got a real good friend By my side Oh, Oh! What do I see? Oh look! A deep dark cave. Can't go over it Can't go under it Can't go through it Got to go in it Oh, oh! It's dark in here. I feel something It has lots of hair! It has sharp teeth! It's a bear!! (At this point, increase the speed of your thigh slapping and swim back through the river, back up and down the tree, back through the tall grass, till you get safely home and lock the door.) I'm not afraid.
7-30-00A Camping We Will Go A camping we will go *additional verses: We'll pitch the tent right here... We'll sleep in a sleeping bag... We'll hike in a field of grass... We'll roast hotdogs by the fire...
7-15-00Campfire Pokey You put your marshmallow in, You take your marshmallow out, You put your marshmallow in and you shake it all about, You do the campfire pokey, and you turn yourself about, And that's what it's all about, hey! Substitute "marshmallow" with hot dog, potato, apple, popcorn, and anything else that you can roast over the campfire. At the end, use the phrase: You put your whole dinner in, You take your whole dinner out, You put your whole dinner in, and you shake it all about, You do the campfire pokey, and you turn yourself about, And that's what its all about, yum, yum!
5-18-00"There were 10 fat sausages frying in a pan, 10 fat sausages frying in a pan. One went 'pop' and the other went 'bang' There were 8 fat sausages frying in a pan..." (sing until there are no fat sausages frying in a pan) Make a prop: cut a frying pan shape out of cardboard and cover in aluminum foil. Put 10 long-shaped slightly blown up on the pan, and let 2 children come up when you sing "pop" and "bang", and pop them, and 2 more until there are no more balloons left. To keep with the camping theme, you could pretend to be cooking them over an open fire made from paper towel rolls painted brown for logs, and tissue paper fire.
Date: 3-7-00Camping We sat around a Campfire (Have a tent set up and read this story inside sitting on a warm sleeping bag) (Lie on the sleeping bag and hug self and close your eyes)
