Boat races - Buy a 10 ft. length of plastic gutter and 6 end caps. Cut the gutter into 3 equal lengths and attach caps. Fill the gutters with water. Use toy boats or have the children make boats with sails (boats made from a walnut shell half with a paper sail secured with a toothpick and anchored with play dough work well). Challenge the children to get their boats from one end of the gutter to the other. Try providing straws for blowing the boats.

SAILING INTO SUMMER My headline is followed by a bulletin board with several types of boats and sea life pictures. We have a summer program so I use this board as we kick of the summer with our calendar of activities posted as well.
