Idea:

A great idea that develops preschool science and math skills is to make up a batch of jam with your class. If you use freezer jam it is so simple. You need to set aside a good hour to allow the children to help with the measuring and pouring of ingredients. when the jam is finished, you can give the kids a taste of their "science project" on a cracker and send the rest home in small glass jars. This is a bit messy, but the kids really love it. Parents liked the jam, too! You could also attach a business-size note with ribbon around the jar with the jam recipe or a berry poem on it.
