Idea:

I sing a different version of "Baby Bumblebee" with my 2- and 3-year olds. We sing the first verse:

"I'm bringing home my baby bumble bee,
Won't my mommy be so proud of me,
I'm bringing home my baby bumble bee,"

Then, we all yell "OUCH" and I point to a child, and we sing "Michael stung me!"
The child whose name we sung giggles, and everyone gets very excited for their turn!

Idea:

Make bee finger puppets. Place on each finger. Then sing this song:

Five little bees
Up in the trees
Busy, buzzing
bumblebees
First they go to a flower
Then they go to the hive
Then they make some honey
What a busy family of five!!

Idea:

Here is a bee rhyme we like to use Here is the Beehive. (make fist with one hand) But where are the bees?
Hiding away where nobody sees,
Watch them come creeping out of their hive...1,2,3,4,5 ( pop out fingers as counting) Bzzzzzzzzzzzz (wriggle fingers around)

In sort of a response to the "buzzing bees" movement activity (very cute), couldn't you also use "Flight of the Bumblebee?" You could even color/copy/cut out pictures of flowers that they can find around your room, and then bring them to the "Queen Bee."

Bee Song

Bees, Bees, Bees, Bees
Buzzin' in bushes, buzzin' in trees
Buzzin' around, wherever they please
There's nothing so sweet,
There's nothing so sweet,
There's nothing so sweet as a honey bee.
Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Bee Hive (Put your hands together like a bee hive and say...)

This is my bee hive, but where are the bees,
Hidden inside where nobody sees,
One two three four five (Pop fingers up while counting)
They buzz away to the trees!

My kids love the song "I'm Bringing Home a Baby Bumblebee" and I heard it for weeks after our bug unit.

Editors Note----------Here are two versions of this song.   The first one is the traditional version and the second one is a version I came up with :)    Daylene

Traditional Baby Bumblebee Song

I'm bringing home a baby bumble bee
Won't my mama be so proud of me
I'm bringing home a baby bumble bee

Ouch!!!!  That bumblebee stung me!

I'm smashing up the baby bumblebee
Won't my mama be so proud of me
I'm smashing up the baby bumblebee

Yuck!!!!  It's all over me!!!!

I'm wiping off the baby bumblebee
Won't my mama be so proud of me
I'm wiping off the baby bumblebee

Uh Oh!!!!!!  Here comes mommy!!!!!

Daylene's Baby Bumble Bee Song

I'm bringing home a baby bumble bee
Won't my mama be so proud of me
I'm bringing home a baby bumble bee

Yuck!!!!  That bumblebee got honey all over me!

I'm tasting the honey from the  bumblebee
Won't my mama be so proud of me
I'm tasting the honey from the  bumblebee

Yuck!!!!  It's all over me!!!!

I'm wiping off the honey from the bumblebee
Won't my mama be so proud of me
I'm wiping off the honey from the bumblebee

Uh Oh!!!!!!  Here comes mommy!!!!!
