Area: New Year's Day

Idea:

I was reading someone else's idea about making fireworks out of glue and sprinkling glitter on the glue and wanted a book or poem to go along with it. I couldn't find one in our library so here is the one I did.

Fireworks On New Year's Day

5 little children waiting to see,

Fireworks on this New Year's Eve.

One saw the fireworks and what did she say?

"Happy New Year to you this day!"

You then count down like the 5 Little Monkeys. I use Board maker to illustrate the book and have the numbers and 5 kids Velcro onto the first page. As we count down we pull the number 5 off to find the number 4 etc. . . and pull off one child each time!
