9-26-00

To help the children understand the 9-26-00 of "al het" or "missing the mark" (ie: not always being as perfect as we would like to be all the time), I placed a large round container (basket, plastic bowl, wastepaper basket) on the floor in the front of the room. I then had the children stand about ten feet away and try and toss a bean bag into the container. More often than not they would miss. We talked about how they felt about missing the container, that they were really trying their hardest and even then they missed sometimes, etc. We then discussed how this happens when we try to be good all the time - sometimes we slip up. Then help the children discern how that they can always improve their behavior and make amends and renew.
