5-29-01 American Flag Veggie Plate Ok.......this is soooooo cool!!! I did this for Memorial Day. Here is what you will need: 1 cookie sheet Have the children help you wash the cherry tomatoes, cauliflower stalks, and blueberries. Put the blueberries in the shallow container. Place it on the cookie sheet in the upper left hand corner. Cut the poster board so it goes from the edge of the shallow container to the edge of the cookie sheet. You will also need several pieces of poster board that goes spans the entire length of the cookie sheet. Place one of the pieces of poster board about two inches down from the top of the cookie sheet and have the children fill the space with tomatoes. Take another piece of poster board and place it two inches down and fill the space with cauliflower. Keep alternating tomatoes and cauliflower until you get to the end of the cookie sheet. Viola!!!!!!! Now, you have a yummy American flag!
You can also cut star fruit and place them on top of the blueberries for added
fun.
idea4th of July Jell-O Treats. materials: clear plastic cups, strawberry or raspberry Jell-O, blueberry Jell-O, Cool-Whip. Make each package of Jell-O separately, according to directions. To set, pour into 9"x13" cake pans. When firmly set, cut Jell-O into 1/2" to 1" cubes. Let children scoop a layer of blue Jell-O into their cup, then a spoonful of cool-whip, followed by a layer of red Jell-O. Top with additional cool-whip. Enjoy!
7-10-00I shared this idea with my online group teachingchildren at egroups.com (http://www.egroups.com/group/teachingchildren) and it was very well received! You can use this for any "patriotic holiday"! It could end up being the beginning of a cool science project too! Beverly Patriot's Punch One way to make a splash this Fourth of July is by treating your kids to tall glasses of Patriot's Punch. Simply fill one or more ice cube trays with a red and one or more trays with blue fruit-flavored beverage and let the cubes freeze solid. Then drop three or four colored cubes into each glass, pour in flavored seltzer water or clear soda, and watch the special effects. As the cubes melt, colored bubbles will swirl through the seltzer!

They helped to mix it all together in a large bowl and spoon it into individual paper plates. They ate it with a spoonful of cool whip on top............and they loved it. They ate the entire bowl. Date: 7-1-994th of July Jell-O;mix 1/3 of each- red, white grape,& blue.Follow steps on box like usual. Date: 6-30-994TH OF JULY FRUIT CUPS Ingredients: Blueberries Strawberries Vanilla yogurt Clear plastic cups Have children place one layer (one scoop) of blueberries into their cup. Then 2 scoops of yogurt. Then 1 scoop of sliced strawberries. Then one more scoop of yogurt. It is great to include the children in the preparation of the fruit from washing it, slicing it (if appropriate for your children) and pouring it into bowls. We also use REBUS cards with picures and words for each step so the children can read the directions on their own. 7-9-98 Name: Alysse E-Mail: rainwhenidie@hotmail.com Fourth of July Smoothie: Put in blender rasberries, blueberrries, vanilla yougurt and milk. 5-26-98 Name: Cheryl E-Mail: C5Joy@aol.com Graham Cracker Flags: Gather a few packages of graham crackers, whit frosting, ice cream sticks, small paper cups, and red white and blue food coloring.
