ideaEggbert the Easter Egg Eggbert the Easter Egg Was a teeny little Easter Egg. Cutest thing you ever saw In the window of a big department store. All day the children came. Noses pressed against the window paid. Spoke to Eggbert but Alas! Eggbert cried because he couldn't answer back. But all at once the clouds rolled by to let the sun shine through. Believe it or not! It got so hot that Eggbert split it two! Out popped a baby chick. A teeny weeny little baby chick. And the children heard him say: "Eggbert wishes you a Happy Easter Day!"
Date: 4-5-00A simple idea, but in case you haven't thought of it try the Bunny Pokey with your class. You can use bunny ears, bunny paws, bunny feet, bunny nose, fluffy (or bunny) tail, and any other bunny parts. My class loves doing the Bunny Pokey.
Date: 4-5-00Here is a fun Easter tune called "Hippoty-Hoppity Easter Bunny" It is sung to the tune of the "Eensy,Weensy Spider". The children sing this song seated with legs out stretched and hands touching toes. It goes like this The Hippoty Hopity Easter Bunny is coming straight and me. Closer and closer he hops up on my knee. Up to my shoulder the Bunny's much to near. Happy Easter, he whispers in my ear. (As the children sing this song, their hands hop from their feet to their knees and eventually to their shoulders and ears. They absolutely love it!!!!!)

Date: 3-26-00I have children stand in a line (shoulder to shoulder and wearing bunny ears) while we sing the following song that I made up. At the end of each verse, I point to one bunny, who then hops back to his/her mother! We count the number of bunnies left and do it over! "There were eight little bunnies a-sittin' on a hill, Eight little bunnies were oh-so still. They sniffed the air, and one hopped away; How many bunnies were left to play?"
Date: 3-18-00Good at Easter time. I make jelly bean shapes out of flannel to use with each color. First I explain that Al and Etta are two little bunnies that go out with baskets to find jelly beans. Sing to the tune of "Alouette". Al and Etta both go out to get a basket full of jolly jelly beans. Jolly jelly beans of green, that's exactly what I mean. Beans of green, beans of green. OHHHH. Continue to sing the song with other colors. I usually show the colored bean shape and pause to let the children say the color. Other colors are: Beans of pink, that's exactly what I think Beans of blue, that is truly truly true Beans of red, that's exactly what I said Beans of orange, nothing really rhymes with orange Beans of orange, beans of orange OHHHH, that's the end of our song!

Here is a bunny with ears so funny, ( put "bunny ears" behind your head with your two fingers) And here is his hole in the ground. (Make a circle with thumb and forefinger) When a noise he hears, He pricks up his ears, (make "bunny ears" stand up straight) And he jumps in his hole in the ground! (Make two fingers jump in "hole"-other two fingers) The kids love this fingerplay! 3-29-98 Name: Jane E-Mail: walkerj@monroe.k12.ga.us Little Peter Rabbit (tune-Battle Hymn of the Republic) Little Peter Rabbit (use fingers to make bunny ears) had a fly (flap arms) upon his nose (point to nose), (repeat 3 times) And he flipped it (use fingers to flip away from your nose) And it flew away! (flap arms) I let my children sing this through once, then begin to do the motions instead of singing the words. For instance, we do motions only for "Little Peter Rabbit" (use fingers to make bunny ears) and sing the rest of the song: Had a fly (flap arms) upon his nose (point to nose), (repeat 3 times) And he flipped it (use fingers to flip away from your nose) And it flew away!(flap arms) The next time we sing the song,we do motions only for "Little Peter Rabbit" and "fly". The following verse has motions instead of words for "Little Peter Rabbit","fly", and "nose". This continues until there are motions only with few words in between. The children love to see if they can remember when to use motions and when to sing the words! 3-26-98 Name: Jennie E-Mail: TeachPixie@aol.com This is a cute fingerplay for the young 3's.
