I home school my 3 3-year-olds. Each week we tape the letter and number of the week on the floor with masking tape. Then I turn on an arrangement I have of "The Flight of the Bumblebee" done by Bobby McFerrin and YoYo Ma and they dance on the letter and number, exploring the shapes with their bodies. They love it.

Our kids got a copy of Tubby the Tuba for a birthday somewhere along the way. My husband used to listen to this when he was little. It is an excellent way to introduce children to musical concepts as they hear stories about a tuba. I found it at: http://www.dwerden.com/SER/Tuba-Materials/tubby-mtc.htm My children love this and listen to it in the car several times a week.

Le Carnaval des Animaux by Saint Saens provides the music for a listening, movement and art experience. I first played this music selection during our lunch listening times. Next visit the web site: http://www.geocities.com/Vienna/Strasse/4751/saens.html Here you can play midis of each animal theme. First is the "Royal March of the Lion" the children love roaring and marching with the royal lions. Continue through the animal themes letting the children create movements as they become elephants, swans etc. Next visit the animal coloring pages at http://www.ZoomSchool.com/coloring and print whatever animal pictures that the children would like to color. We chose to color and cut out a huge number of birds and create an aviary on one wall of the day care. Later we created an aquarium with colored pictures. The children also used this opportunity to create elephant and 'creatures with long ears' costumes and use their ballet knowledge as elephants and swans.
